I can’t hide it – I love good soap! Whether it’s to use in the shower or (my absolute favorite) relaxing in a hot bath, it’s one of my simple pleasures. Quality soap is so much better on my sensitive skin than the big name brands in the grocery store. Paying full price for good soap can be very pricey so I found an alternative. A few years ago I found a small amount of good soaps at Marshall’s. Lately, they’ve been carrying much more. Oh,yes! I ‘clean’ up every time I go in. The closest Marshall’s is not exactly close so I stock up when I’m there.
Here’s my latest accumulation:
Usually I’m the only one in the soap section, smelling soaps and dropping them in my cart. This time was different. There was another person there. A man. I thought, for sure he’s just killing time while his wife is shopping. I was eyeing up his intentions. He was all OVER ‘my’ soap section. He was stocking up on soap just like me. Oh no, it was a showdown! If he only knew how many miles I just travelled to get soap! I had to break the tension so I said, “I just love these soaps”. That took his attention away from gobbling up all of ‘my’ soap on the shelves and he focused on telling me all about olive oil soaps. Apparently, they’re even better than my favorites. So, you’ll see I grabbed a few after my olive oil soap education. I’ll be trying them soon and let you know if they’re worth the money.
So, since I felt bad for having participating in the SOAP SMACKDOWN, I offered up my assistance and handed him a few olive oil soaps as I found them. He did the same for me and hooked me up with some Lily of the Valley. It was a fair trade.
Sheesh, I’m obsessed with Italian soaps! I did regain my composure about two days later.
How about you? What’s your simple (or guilty) pleasure? What’s your favorite way to relax?
Yeah I can totally picture you doing this! haha Glad it turned out well. You'll have to let me know about the soap. I have been so itchy lately and I need a good soap.
These soaps look amazing!! The packaging alone is beautiful…I can only imagine how delightful they are to froth up with! My guilty pleasure is shopping at Goodwill!! but I may have to add soap to that list! 🙂
Nice post

Have you been to bean Street Market to check out her soaps. I do love pretty soaps…I especially love my robin eggs blue egg soaps. My guilty pleasure is thrifting and craft supplies.
What a unique hobby/necessity! I had no idea I could bargain on wonderful different types of soap. I enjoy raising and tending to my orchids. Any ideas for preserving their beautiful flowers?…they don't bloom very often.
I love the Bee and Flower sandlewood and jasmine soap scents and you can usually get them at Chinese grocery stores for la cheapa…they remind me of my mother, college, my first apartment. I don't necessarily want to travel back in time, but they make me feel nostalagic! Visiting you for New Friend Friday! Helloo, friend!
I love soaps too! I love crabtree and evelyn and loccitane soaps at the moment.
Best wishes,
Natasha.
I don't know how good they are, but my local Pier 1 was clearing out some soaps for 10 cents a bar last week. I bought $2 worth to put in the guest bathroom. They smell good, but like I said I have never used them. I think they were normally $3 a bar. HTH!
I love olive oil soap. I got hooked on it during a vacation in southern France, where I found some handmade olive oil soap. I stocked up before leaving. Now whenever any family goes over, I ask for them to bring me 'Savon du Marsaille' and provencial herbs.
